I kind of want Ricardo to have a female friend named Lucy… or Lucia. :)

Yes, I’m weird, because I could watch him do that for hours!

I love him. We used to keep geese. They chased the cats and hung with the dogs. One year they decieded to join the migration , it broke my heart but I know they are happy,

    Nice to meet Ricardo!
When he drinks, he does it “like he means it” -with purpose. I think geese do everything “like they mean it.”

They say that geese partner up for life and are very devoted to their mates. Ricardo really might like to have a lady love. What do you think.?

Boy, he was really thirsty, wasn’t he?

Does he have a pond? Any others to hang with? Ducks? Or does he have an identity problem and think he’s a cat or a dog? Or a coyote?

    Renee ~ me too!

Barbara ~ there were once five geese, 3 males and 2 females. Ricardo is the only one left after speeding cars and mean neighbor dogs. He’s very devoted to the cows, now.

He drank his water ever so elegantly, and seemed to savor every drop.

Don’t suppose there is a support group for waterholics?

He seemed a little unsteady on his feet. Is he injured or just old? Or maybe just dehydrated!

    Hey there,
So although this note doesn’t have anything directly to do with our friend Ricardo here, (who does clearly need a companion named ‘Lucy’), I thought his page was a good enough location for this message as any other.

In taking a ‘gander’ at the beautious leather boots you’ve shown on another page of this site. . .I just want to say, for the love of pete, treat yourself and just buy them.
I suspect you’ve made a dollar or two from your book sales, and as frivolous as $500 boots seem to be, I think you should treat yourself. You’ll wear them every day. . And every day they will bring you pleasure. Think of it as the karmic reward for you taking such good care of your ‘farmily’. Who knows where those animals would have ended up if you haven’t taken them in.
You deserve it. And I bet I’m not the only one who thinks so.

I’m with Sabra. Buy those boots Shreve!

I would put a dollar in the Buy Shreve Her Dreamboots fund. I bet each one of the fans would.

Hell yes! Let’s get Shreve her dreamboots. Set the fund up, Shreve! We all have a personal interest in keeping you in functional work boots, so you will continue to share your magnificent life with us. . .Thanks so much for your inspiration & care of your farmily.

How smart Ricardo is! He picks a partner likely to be around for a while.

  20. Lesley

P.S. I love that his name is Ricardo.

  21. Deborah

Ricardo, What is the sound of one wing flapping???

  22. Jenny C
    March 31st, 2010 @ 4:26 pm

Lesley, that’s exactly what I was going to say! Shreve had me at Ricardo! I’m just so happy that there’s a goose in the world named Ricardo. The bonus? The subtle sounds of bill against bucket, little slurps and the honk as if to toast “Slainte”!

P.S. ~ Me too, Renee and Shreve! All day long…

P.S.S. – Gotta’ get the freakin’ boots, Shreve. There will be no end of pleasure of smelling the leather, sleeping with them under the pillow that first night, and sashaying through house and field in them. A girl sashays in $500 leather boots just as easily as in $700 Manolo Blahniks, but in the boots you can sashay through manure as well as at a party… and enjoy each equally.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was my husband , 6’8 325 trying to teach our two Canadian goslings to fly. He would run across the yard valiently flapping his arms and honking madly. I laughed till I peed myself but they did fly…..eventually

  25. Daniel
    March 31st, 2010 @ 6:54 pm

Is he an attack goose? We had a whole flock of Canadian geese make their home on the golf course where I worked, and they were *mean*. Made a heck of a mess of the greens too.

On the plus side though it was pretty fun once their babies hatched. You’d see mom goose on one side of the line, dad on the other, and a line of little grey puff-balls hopping along between them.

    Shreve,
The clip was truly a meditation. Thanks from a stressed-out L.A. gal. That minute and a half with Ricardo was so calming in a “calgon take me away” sense. It is the little things…

And, yeah, you need/deserve the boots!!

Ricardo is hilarious and cute and adorable (even if he can be a little mean)! Long live Ricardo! Ya, and what they said… go buy the boots!

ahhh,,, the simple pleasures of life to make me smile. what a treat to watch after a frustrating day at work dealing with people who think they are sick enough for a minor emergency center when all they have is a cough!

give me animals any day! :-)

Love! I’m getting Guinea chicks next week. They have the CUTEST baby geese there too. I couldn’t decide if I should get a pair or not. I think maybe…yes…:O)

Mesmerizing. Isn’t it amazing how animals have that effect on us?
On a side note, I saw your “Anger Management” vimeo and noticed you used a song from Queens of the Stone Age. Have you checked out Them Crooked Vultures?
Love your new site with news and views of the rest of the farmily.

(Shreve’s feet being the dogs, of course).

    Hey ladies,
Thanks for all the support in convincing Shreve to get the boots. . .good to see we’re on the same page.
I just had a thought however; in the off-chance Ms. Shreve wants to ‘pay-it-forward’ with this boot business, I have an idea.
I’m not sure how this would be coordinated or managed, (clearly the honor system would need to be in place); what if everyone who wanted Shreve to buy the boots made a small contribution to their local animal shelter? We could communicate the amounts to Shreve; when it reaches $500, then she can buy herself the lovely boots. This would rationalize the boot purchase by benefiting needy animals.
    Just a thought. . . . .
