    Now you have a problem.

A more permanent installation outside, with privacy screens on a deck or slab. Or bringing it inside so you can enjoy it during the winter too.

What to do. What to do.

Ok, I’m jealous. I don’t even take a bath (I’m a shower gal), but I could get used to that. Is that essential oil I see on the edge of the tub? What scent, if I may be so nosy?

  13. Lynne Parker
    May 26th, 2010 @ 9:45 am

Donna, that was my question too… looks like an essential oil, maybe from Mountain Rose Herbs. And yeah, I’m envious as well!

Wondering if Charlie comes to investigate. I had a little schnauzer who always had to join me at bath time and try to drink the bathwater!

oh my Shreve…how decadant a outdoor tub..I would take a bath in the moonlight..with candles and my guy..

    May 26th, 2010 @ 9:55 am

    heaven!! and so peaceful . . . !

(but hey!! it’s warm enough in wyoming to bathe outside – when here on the northcoast of california i’ve two fleece jackets & a down vest on – inside?!!)

    May 26th, 2010 @ 9:59 am

And in winter, you skate on it.

Essential oil from Mountain Rose Herbs ~ YES! I have many ~ that particular one was Eucalyptus.

In the dark of night ~ that was how I christened this tub!

It’s filled with hot water from my shower thanks to a very long hose! Hot water and a breeze or cool air above the waterline is a divine combo.

I AM SO JEALOUS! You have it good girl, i hope you know that..

    May 26th, 2010 @ 10:23 am

Ooooh Shreve! That sounds great. I’m gonna have to send you some lavender essential oil (Dan bought a distiller last year).

What do the pups do when you are in the tub?

  20. Coral
    May 26th, 2010 @ 10:25 am

Ha! I would have never thought of putting a bathtub outside. But i guess if you’re in the middle of nowhere, who cares!?

  21. bonnie
    May 26th, 2010 @ 10:32 am

if you stuff a little insulation in around the outside of the tub, the water will stay warm longer. or you could raise it a bit so you could tuck a few hot coals from your woodstove under it at times…

It’s hard to believe you might have taken a poor picture, I thought that was for very bad photographers like me!

    May 26th, 2010 @ 12:01 pm

Jealous! But I know how you and others labored to get that tub to its new location. Soak in your bliss: it’s well-earned.

Very lucky! I got to sit in an old cast iron tub a couple of days ago in the historic Occidental Hotel in Buffalo. Is that lavender? The outdoor showers you describe in your book must be nice too.

DUDE. There’s one of those at my barn. I don’t think I possess the will to clean it and transport it to my house… so I’ll live vicariously through yours. Awesome!

I’m relaxed just thinking about your tub! Beautiful sky, breeze….ahhhhhhh.

You’ve insprired me to look for some sort of outdoor soaking vessel to cool in for the summer.

  40. Ursula
    May 26th, 2010 @ 7:18 pm

We had not quite as wide open a vista, but definitely reminiscent of soaking in a hot bath on a balcony in Japan on our honeymoon.

Aaaaaaahhhh, nothing like being naked outdoors! I’ve been begging my hubby for an outdoor shower for YEARS! I’m finally getting one this summer! We, too, live in the middle of nowhere and it’s HEAVEN!

Would this be known as a ‘Ten Sleep Hot Tub’ ?

We have an outdooor shower at our beach cottage, and I L-O-V-E it; I’m trying to figure out how to put one at my midwest suburban home.

    Ahhhh.

Ever tried Dr. Hauksha Lavender or Spruce Bath? The first will mellow you out and the second will warm you up. I am a big fan.

On behalf of all the guy fans with a big ol Daily Coyote crush on you – did you have to put the leg in the picture? Thats just mean…

  49. shreve
    May 29th, 2010 @ 10:06 am

Oh my goodness Chris you crack me up. I did pick the LEAST suggestive pic, I promise!

  50. Jerry Johnson
    May 30th, 2010 @ 3:53 pm

So, Chris, perhaps we now know what happened to the photo “Tub 2”; it must have been the MOST suggestive pic. Ohhhh Shreve, you have to be careful of the blood pressure of your “age advanced male fans”. hehe So decadent; so totally you!!

  51. Stacy Hurt
    May 30th, 2010 @ 10:33 pm

I totally understand the hot water & cool breeze thing. Way to go! That’s awesome!

So, no nosey bovine visitors come by? LOL

Ohhhh, I’m sooo jealous! How wonderful for you! I, too, wonder if the pups get curious and come to visit you while you’re having a blissful soak…Well, I guess I’ll just have to go in the backyard and sit in my dog’s pool…
