July 16th, 2010 @ 8:10 am
Mmm my favorite kind of wardrobe! I miss those days before I became cubicle bound…someday it will be back!
July 16th, 2010 @ 8:11 am
Wow…so thats how they do laundry in Wyoming!
July 16th, 2010 @ 8:13 am
Not the same color!
July 16th, 2010 @ 8:25 am
Looks like mine. =P
July 16th, 2010 @ 8:43 am
Which pair is you Sunday best?? I know I love my new job as an RN, working in a closed office where we triage/phone so can wear whatever we want, jeans/shorts/sandals.! Yea for wardrobe freedom!
July 16th, 2010 @ 8:49 am
does anyone remember when they where called “dungarees”? my pappypaw called them that and I liked the ring to it…..
July 16th, 2010 @ 9:05 am
Which reminds me, I need new jeans…
July 16th, 2010 @ 9:56 am
I can relate. . .
and you can tell which are your “go-to” pair, the ones which need a “haircut” from walking on the edges often (either that or they’re a bit longer than the others), but that’s how I can tell which ones I am currently favoring.
July 16th, 2010 @ 10:02 am
I’ll third that. Looks just like mine too ;) Jeans, tank tops & boots….they’re all I need!
July 16th, 2010 @ 10:02 am
GUFFAW!!!!!
July 16th, 2010 @ 10:38 am
Ok, so maybe it’s not practical to have a diverse wardrobe because of the work you do daily, but you can shake things up a little with the underclothing you wear (which I’m sure you don’t want to post a picture of). I love looking conservative at work while wearing something a little wild and crazy underneath.
July 16th, 2010 @ 10:48 am
I hope they are all Levi’s!!!
July 16th, 2010 @ 11:02 am
Just like my wardrobe except I have fewer pairs.
July 16th, 2010 @ 11:05 am
harhar! i remember trying to wear jeans (which i wore on the farm every day) to school back in the 60’s – got sent home every time! not a bad way to get outta class, except mom used to get tired of driving there to pick me up!
July 16th, 2010 @ 11:36 am
What brand of jeans do you wear?
July 16th, 2010 @ 12:02 pm
Ditto, Shan’s question. Can you give us the inside scoop on your jean collection?
July 16th, 2010 @ 1:12 pm
I can’t speak for Shreve, of course; but I can say that most “real” cowgirls wear Lee Wranglers (or at least used to).
July 16th, 2010 @ 1:49 pm
How about a pic of your finished fence (sans jeans)?
I’m a jeans girl too!
July 16th, 2010 @ 1:52 pm
So, when you get up in the morning, do you actually choose which pair you will wear or do you just put on the ones that are “next?” Either way, you know you’re going to like just fine no matter which pair you wear!!
July 16th, 2010 @ 2:39 pm
So. One for each day of the week, plus a pair for formal occasions?
You know, it’s nice to have a loose, breezy dress for summer days after you’ve cleaned off all of the grime and just want to relax in a dress and hat an sip something cool.
Yes, you can dress up just for the animals. Or for yourself.
I always make sure I have a colorful summer dress. My current favorite is green and purple.
July 16th, 2010 @ 2:45 pm
Heh, looks more diverse than my current jean stable…
July 16th, 2010 @ 2:49 pm
S & K ~ oh, there’s some of everything in there… wranglers, levis, gap, who knows what! my only rule is that they be under $50, as far under as possible! cow poop and barbed wire don’t mix with fancy jeans. :)
M ~ I wear dresses all the time but I sure as heck don’t wash them with my jeans….
July 16th, 2010 @ 5:44 pm
Looks alot like my wardrobe, except I also have scrubs for work (vet’s office)and jean shorts for the summer.
July 16th, 2010 @ 7:31 pm
Nice clothesline as well .
July 16th, 2010 @ 9:14 pm
I want to start wearing more dresses and would love to know the what’s and how’s … sounds silly, but I don’t really know how to wear one! What kind do you favor? Thanks!
July 16th, 2010 @ 10:53 pm
Carla ~ I’m on a floor-length kick, myself. I wear this dress ~ http://www.cutiemus.com/servlet/the-153/Girl-from-Ipanema-Dress/Detail ~ ALL THE TIME. Barefoot or with my cowboy boots. I can run and climb over fences in a long dress or skirt but that can’t be done with the same level of freedom and decency in a pencil skirt or a mini skirt.
The main thing is what you feel comfortable in and what shapes (the silhouette) or fabrics you feel flattered by (and therefore comfortable in), and then of course what you will be doing in the dress!
There’s nothing wrong with going to a store and trying on 15 different dresses to see what rocks your boat!
July 17th, 2010 @ 12:02 am
Love the dress!
I’ll bet you could auction those jeans off on eBay as authentic, broken-in cowgirl jeans and get enough to fund a wardrobe-doubling party!
July 17th, 2010 @ 5:40 am
Hey, I have a pair like that one…and that one…oh and those too *LOL*
Summertime…shorts, skirts, dresses…worn with motorcycle boots, cowboy boots, muck boots and ankle boots. I seriously saw a homeless woman, pushing a cart down B street the other day, wearing my outfit…*L* Now if I just had a dwarvin hat…:O)
July 17th, 2010 @ 5:50 am
PS…I do buy my “good” jeans new but all my work jeans I buy at the thrift shops for 4-5 bucks. GREAT fit! Already soft and comfy.
July 17th, 2010 @ 7:50 am
Hi. Shreve..Love your book ! You have a great capacity to understand animals; wish everyone did.
Re jeans..I grew up with “dungarees”, attended college in them. As an art student at RISD, probably most of us used to wipe our paint brushes off on them, so they got pretty colorful ! There was a “letter to the Editor” in the Brown University Herald chiding those awful RISD girls for wearing pants to class ! I graduated in 1953; My how times have changed !
July 17th, 2010 @ 11:34 am
Try twill. Its thinner than jeans and is available in earth tones. I order mine from Dickies.com
July 18th, 2010 @ 6:47 am
A ~ ha! except I hate buying them, so I don’t think I could part with these pairs I’ve found and love! :)
M ~ wow.
July 18th, 2010 @ 7:31 pm
I’m in the process of moving and while packing up my pants today discovered I own something like twelve pairs of jeans… I think of all the actual pants I own (not counting pajama pants), jeans make up more than half of the number.
Denim is so functional and awesome, though, I don’t know that I really need much else!
Of course, now I just want more jeans.
July 19th, 2010 @ 12:27 pm
I am not going to admit to the number of pairs of jeans I own, and I can’t even wear mine to work in Cubicle City. Next to the animals, that’s the thing I envy most about Shreve’s lifestyle — jeans! Every day!
July 19th, 2010 @ 6:16 pm
I’m jealous of your wardrobe, though I suspect this is because I had to throw out three pairs of jeans the other day, after finally admitting that giant holes in the seat of your pants is not awesome. :)
July 19th, 2010 @ 6:50 pm
E ~ it makes me nearly cry when they come to that! I have a few pairs with patches all across the backsides because I can’t bear to toss them… it’s a sickness!
July 23rd, 2010 @ 2:18 pm
Elly- don’t throw them out! There’s so much you can do with all that great denim…I’ve made bags, jewelry, quilts, vests, etc. from pieces of my old jeans!
