Who’s a handsome boy? Ranger is!
August 8th, 2010 @ 11:41 pm
Amazing. Talk about a childhood dream of mine!
August 9th, 2010 @ 12:03 am
So how does that work with the horse doo situation? If your horse, you know, does a two right there in the post office parking lot, are you supposed to put it in a bag and throw it away?
August 9th, 2010 @ 12:18 am
niceeeee! He looks like he almost fell asleep XD
August 9th, 2010 @ 12:29 am
i’m totally jealous..i have to drive there…
August 9th, 2010 @ 12:31 am
I have always dreamed of doing this…of having a horse and living in a place where I could ride it everywhere :) You’re living the dream!
August 9th, 2010 @ 1:04 am
I have to say, the background of this picture is not quite what I pictured your town looking like. Would you ever consider posting a few shots of Ten Sleep?
August 9th, 2010 @ 1:18 am
look. at. that. sky.
August 9th, 2010 @ 1:26 am
Ranger is beautiful! He looks so calm and relaxed. Obviously a loved soul. The flag and the whole post office thing makes for a really nice photo. When’s the Shreve Stockton Photography book being released? :)
August 9th, 2010 @ 2:06 am
LOL that’s so cool! :)
I wish I could do that :)
August 9th, 2010 @ 3:40 am
Love you adventurous life! the flag makes this picture amazing
August 9th, 2010 @ 4:54 am
email, snail mail, express mail… pony mail is best!
August 9th, 2010 @ 6:20 am
“SUNSHINE” No Rain, Sleet. or Snow, Hmmmm,
August 9th, 2010 @ 6:31 am
Everything is better with your horse, wish I could ride mine everyday!
August 9th, 2010 @ 6:54 am
Nice touch with the American flag :) thank you. Thats awesome!
I would have a pic like that but it is my mountain bike, not a horse….not nearly the same western feel…LOL
August 9th, 2010 @ 7:57 am
I’m really jealous too!
August 9th, 2010 @ 9:28 am
Love the saddle…looks well worn in and comfy! Is that part of it that goes across his chest?
August 9th, 2010 @ 10:09 am
He looks so mellow. And I agree with the comment on the saddle–it looks “all broke in”, like a comfortable pair of shoes.
August 9th, 2010 @ 10:16 am
Will he step on the bell ringer for a drive through? LOL!
Took my horse through the drive through at a dairy queen, but he refused to step on the little bell thingy, so a car drove over it for us… then he slobbed on the window… so happy to see the people.
Took the other horse to a different ice cream shop in a different town in a different life. Rode straight down the highway, cars whizzing by at 55 + mph. Good Horse. Soon as I got my ice cream cone, he took one lick and dumped it on the ground. I had to get another one, and pick up his mess. Last time I took him out for ice cream, what a poo! :-)

We have some mounted police in Toronto where I work. Whenever I see them strolling down the city streets, I feel happy (and safe). But I’ve never seen one in hot pursuit.
August 9th, 2010 @ 10:58 am
Beautiful pic, as usual! I take my red horse to the Starbucks drive thru regularly. They always have a banana ready for him! :)
August 9th, 2010 @ 11:25 am
hybrid s.u.v.
August 9th, 2010 @ 12:58 pm
V & KS ~ I love my saddle too! It is SO old, I bought it very very used. Not fancy at all but I adore it ~ it’s very much like a favorite old shoe or boot.
August 9th, 2010 @ 1:25 pm
Hey, the yellow lines of the horse parking spaces are going the wrong way.
August 9th, 2010 @ 2:44 pm
Do you carry a rifle? Remember you have escaped convicts running around Wyoming.
August 9th, 2010 @ 6:49 pm
You lead a wonderful life – so generous of you to share it with us!! He is a very handsome steed!
August 9th, 2010 @ 6:49 pm
Well isn’t he a good boy and what a way to go to the post office. Tres bien
August 9th, 2010 @ 8:07 pm
I hope one day I can live in a place where I can do this.
August 9th, 2010 @ 9:00 pm
So precious, but where’s his feed bag? Horse parkades should have food service!
(I’m kidding. Ranger looks very well nourished.)
August 9th, 2010 @ 9:09 pm
Oh, how handsome Ranger is! Such a great pic! How long does it take you to ride into town? I’m also jealous-when you ‘run errands’, it’s much more relaxed and enjoyable I imagine than down here in the city!
August 9th, 2010 @ 9:30 pm
Seeing all the comments along the lines of “Gee, I wish I could do that” reminds me a great book called “The Last american Man” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Yes, the same author made famous by “Eat, Pray, Love”. It’s a biography of a man named Eustace Conway. One of his accomplishments was to ride across America on his horse. All along the way, he’d hear “I wish I could do that!” His response was nearly always “You can!”
August 10th, 2010 @ 4:40 am
HA! You are one of the coolest women I’ve ever known!
He’s SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Handsome!
August 10th, 2010 @ 8:59 am
How long was the ride?
PS: that breast collar is sitting too low– sorry….
August 10th, 2010 @ 9:05 am
S ~ I know ~ I’m missing a D ring on one side…
August 10th, 2010 @ 10:53 am
what a beaut glistening in the sun! your life does make me miss having a horse, but i’ve long not been able to care for one – have to satisfy myself with standing on my front steps & watching my neighbors horses! thanks, you!
August 10th, 2010 @ 12:22 pm
Lovely image of a handsome animal, waiting patiently for his alpha to finish her business…
I’m no rider, but I admire horses for their beauty and what they can accomplish with a skilled partner.
August 11th, 2010 @ 5:40 am
Probably a daft question, but is Ranger shod?
August 11th, 2010 @ 7:44 am
A ~ Not daft! He’s not shod. A lot of horses go barefoot around here ~ Ranger spent most of his life without shoes (before I bought him) and I don’t feel any reason to change it as he’s always on dirt/clay or pavement, and has better footing on pavement without shoes.
August 11th, 2010 @ 1:38 pm
Ah, thank you. I was curious. Most of the horses I worked with remained unshod when out on grass but were pared and reshod when working (after we brought them in fat and dirty with tangles and burrs in their manes and tails after a three month vacation).
If it ain’t broke no need to fix it.
August 14th, 2010 @ 9:40 pm
what a handsome guy…my sister and I used to ride bare-back on our horse when we were teens…(dad would kill us if he found out)
August 15th, 2010 @ 12:04 am
Do you know the bank robber’s knot? Perfect for a rail like that. You pull on the free end and it comes quickly and completely undone for a fast getaway. It’s how I tie my saddle donkey. Good to be in practice. Never know when we’ll need it ;-) .
August 15th, 2010 @ 12:14 pm
Love it! Nice vintage barrel saddle you have! I have one similar!
August 24th, 2010 @ 5:15 pm
that is so cool.
October 18th, 2010 @ 2:13 pm
I simply adore Ranger. Is it strange to have a crush on a horse? What am I thinking? I don’t care!
