Huh, I guess there are boots in that picture. I had to go back and take a second look since that’s not what I noticed first.
September 13th, 2010 @ 9:23 am
Gorgeous!! That is all.
September 13th, 2010 @ 9:25 am
My dad had green top boots. I love those! Brings back memories.

Dear Shreve,
Very nice boots. Thought you and yours might enjoy seeing a small selection of the Autry National Center’s collection of cowboy boots.
Use this link to view a list:

Cool boots…BUT I like the snazzy chaps!
September 13th, 2010 @ 11:45 am
Forget the boots, that’s dessert, does the Gaucho has a name and a phone number ?
September 13th, 2010 @ 12:37 pm
Me thinks that Gaucho is spoken for! Mr. Mysterious. Love the boots though, shows his romantic side!
September 13th, 2010 @ 1:24 pm
Props to the man who is comfortable enough to wear those straps. They are in amazing condition, so either new(ish) or they must get cleaned & cared for very well. Not the average manure hauling daily wear.

Marva ~ thanks for the link!!! Someday I’ll make a pair from start to finish.
Kathy – this ain’t Mike, if that’s what you mean!

I like Tina’s comment…

September 13th, 2010 @ 2:28 pm
Shreve, you are so sly. I can’t stop tilting my head to see more of what’s under his hat!

Regarding your recent tweet (and not wanting to plague you with an e-mail), on what it is that beetles eat, I give you:
That depends.
40% of all named animals on our planet are beetles. That’s 2/5 of ALL ANIMALS. This includes what one usually thinks of as an animal (coyotes, humans, birds, fish, maybe a frog or two) plus all of the ones that many people have a hard time thinking of as animals (coral, worms, sponges, spiders, etc). Considering this, beetles are (as far as taxonomists have been able to accomplish) the 2nd most diverse group of animals on the planet (2nd only to roundworms -so far). To say in a single word or sentence what beetles specifically eat is impossible! :D
Some are carnivores (diving beetles) some are herbivores (leaf beetles) some are poopovores (coprophagous -dung beetles) some are fungovores (fungus beetles) some are scavengers (carrion beetles) some are generalists (eat a variety of things), some are specialists (only eating the pollen of one particular plant). Many eat one thing as a larva and something completely different as an adult.
There’s another thing: all beetles are grubs as kids. Essentially maggots, but with more developed heads and legs. If you see a beetle in typical beetle form with the hard shell, no matter how tiny, it’s an adult. They do not grow past that point.
SO there you go. A brief lesson in Coleopterology!
(I have an entomology degree. I started out in zoology but after one course on bugs and how totally freakishly mind-blowingly interesting (and beautiful) they are, I changed my mind!)

Ahhhh, the men of Wyoming. Makes me want the country life all the more :-)
September 14th, 2010 @ 8:16 am
Man, only a bada$$ cowboy can pull off green boots with hearts ’em and still look seriously masculine and sexy.
September 14th, 2010 @ 10:47 am
This is the only time I’ve disliked a cowboy hat… I can’t see, I can’t see!
Ahem… back to the photos. Yes, the boots are awesome, but I’m taken with the exquisite colors of the grasses (so many variations of gold), sky, clouds, and the rugged reddish metal of gates and chutes.
September 14th, 2010 @ 2:25 pm
Another gripping picture! There oughta be a song just for boots… and that cowboy with a guitar to sing it… lol
September 14th, 2010 @ 2:35 pm
Haha Jenny C….my first thought: HOLY COWBOY!!!
Agree-the green boots help bring attention to the paleness of the terraine.
September 14th, 2010 @ 7:27 pm
geez louise! that man….
September 14th, 2010 @ 10:10 pm
in love! with the boots too
no really those are absolutely gorgeous. I know some people that would give their life savings away for those
September 16th, 2010 @ 6:48 am
OO…SWear, I’m in a green envy! FAB-U-LOUS!
September 17th, 2010 @ 6:39 am
Oh, I see him as Mr. September in a 2011 calender. please, please………….
It’s so intriging how you don’t show faces. I wouldn’t think you would even have to get permission if they are not shown??
ps. and you could throw some older Cowboy’s in in there for us older gals too. :):)
September 19th, 2010 @ 1:41 pm
I, too, was trying to see under the hat. I think “sexy” is what we’re trying to say. Mmmmm. I’ve always wanted a pair of red cowboy boots.
October 18th, 2010 @ 6:55 am
Heeeeeey…Gawd, I AM old…I actually just looked at the BOOTS!
NOW, I’m depressed. I may be in the market for a future x husband…now that I relooked…:O)
