Do Charlie & Chloe play with Fiona (or any of the livestock)? If so, what do they do?

Heard a joke today that I just have to share with you.

    What does a dislexic(sp)cow say?

    OoooooMmmmmm

Dumb but I cracked up when I heard it.

No offense to anyone I hope.

Shreve, off subject I wanted to ask you something. How do you eat at other people’s houses or travel to visit people with gluten intolerance? Thanks to your book about Charlie and you were ver batum saying things I was going through I got tested. I’m gluten intolerant. I’ve been on the diet (except some accidents) for 8 months. I am still in the adjusting period.

April, it’s not easy. I went to my brother’s birthday party yesterday. Everyone was raving about the frosting on the cake, which was not gluten free. I gave in and had a teaspoon of the frosting, thinking it would be safe. Mistake. It must have had some crumbs in it. I was in pain within a couple hours. You have to be disciplined. You have to accept that you are different. And you need to come prepared with your own safe food and treats. As for traveling, pack your own food or learn what restaurants accomodate the gluten-free lifestyle. Outback Steakhouse is wonderful. Longhorn Steakhouse. They both have gluten-free menus. Olive Garden has some menu items. If they don’t have a gluten free menu, you need to go for plain meats, steamed veggies, baked potato, salads with no croutons, and hope for the best. There are tons of websites now devoted to this subject. Good luck.

April- get your hands on my first book Eating Gluten Free (amazon or your library) – I have several sections on eating out, family/holiday, dates, etc. The technical, plus tips, plus the emotional/psychological elements at play. Hang in there – it gets easier I swear.

    Hey Shreve,
Thanks for the beautiful birthday pic.
I haven’t been online much lately, so it’s quite a treat to see what you posted on ‘my b-day’.
So sorry to hear about Ricardo – it’s sad to lose a dear friend in such an unfortunate way.
At least he was able to live life as he chose, with his sweetheart – however unconventional.
I hope the love of his life is adapting to his absence with the help of friends and family …
RE: Uncovered Outhouses … they’re the best. Even in the middle of the night in black bear country … when I was scared out of my wits. Nothing like a great view to make sitting unwasted time.
Thanks for what you do post – written or in pictures.
… you not doing it as much is helping me not to be dependent on someone else, but to simply live my own life.
Not having internet at home at the moment also helps! (a hiatus to save money for a bit and play guitar, or be outside in lieu of screen time.

    Very nice picture!

Re restaurants which have gluten-free menus, we recently went to P.F. Chang’s for the first time and I noticed their menu has special choices for vegetarians, children, and a pretty extensive gluten-free section.

My problem is milk. It doesn’t like me, and lets me know about it. I have recently begun drinking almond and soy milk with no problems at all. Hurray!

Bruce – I was wondering the same thing …looks like Fiona. AS for gluten-free, there is much more access to information today.
