Basket Case
☆ October 18, 2011
It took me all summer to get this photo of Eli sleeping in a basket. I had the empty basket on the shelf in my camper as a kitty spot ~ the girls love baskets. But one day, I happened upon Eli sleeping in the basket! I quietly reached for my little pocket camera to snap a pic, but when I turned it on, the noise woke Eli and he glared at me and leapt out of the basket and swaggered away. This happened numerous times over the course of the summer. He kept returning to the basket to nap, but was adamant in his refusal to have this adorable habit documented. It became a mission of mine to get a photo. And I finally did. Just don’t tell him so!

there really is not much cuter than a kitty in a basket, but seeing eli there is pure perfection.

My lips are sealed. Eli does after all, have his macho, feline “man of the house” reputation to maintain!! (so adorable)

Doesn’t Eli surf the web by now? ;) I caught George (beagle) googling rabbit images the other day. Such a hound!

In the close-up pic those ears clearly say (in IKSL)that you are just being tolerated.

So precious!

Whispering: completely, edibly darling! Oh cats… an empty basket high on a shelf becomes instant paradise. I can only imagine the things you opted not to haul up the mountain, but an empty nap-basket made the list and was lovingly placed in prime cat territory.

BEYOND cute….even better because you had to wait and be patient!! LOVE it. He would be so appalled at his cuteness I bet….

Eli the wise one has taught you well on how to silently approach your prey like a successful feline! But he really knows you are there yet decided to reward you (and us) this time for your silent stealth like cat like maneuvers… How old is Eli now?
October 18th, 2011 @ 2:53 pm
Congratulations on your conquest. My cat is notorious for that.
October 18th, 2011 @ 3:05 pm

:)

They are sweet the way they curl up to fit in small spaces. . my cat loved baskets, boxes, paper bags .. . I don’t think Eli would grace a paper bag or box though!

Our dog was the same way, camera on.. dog gone. I just want to comment on your I Don’t Know What Is Going On Here picture of baby Charlie, it’s his first crazy eyed head shake which we all know he perfected later on as a grown up! The adult picture is one of my favorites of him being goofy but this one is going to be a close second. What a treasure.

Oh Eli, you warm fuzzy bundle! So good to see the king is well and happy!
October 19th, 2011 @ 4:16 pm
What is it about cats curling up in baskets and boxes? They’re just so adorable when they do that! I hate to blow Eli’s macho cover, but, damn – that’s just so cute! ;-)
October 19th, 2011 @ 7:23 pm
Oh gosh, those wonderful pink kitty toes! Excuse me whilst I go find some toes to pinch… I love it :D
October 20th, 2011 @ 1:18 am
our darling cats also sleep on baskets. and even on strainers.
picture perfect!

Nice pic.
My roomie’s cat used to sleep in a kitty bed atop her dresser, but since we moved my roomie hasn’t put it back. Recently the cat began climbing atop the clothes on my dresser and sleeping there every night.
Finally I removed the clothes, put a spare kitty bed on the top of the dresser, and Maggie cat is happy once more, spending her nights there in a much more comfortable way.
Silly felines!

D’oh!
I meant to say:
Don’t want a little tisket,
or a little tasket,
just a little kitty in a basket!

I have same problem with my cats : one of them used to steal my cigarettes and play with when he was kitten, he was walking with a cigarette in the mouth it was really funny but I never could take a single pic, now he’s adult and stopped “smoking”. So, congrats for you pic, Eli is cute !

Thank you for your persistence in this stalk! Cats are all different of course, but there are those like Eli who seem to sleep with the same total focus they use in hunting…

Again, this proves…anything worth having is worth waiting for. Great shot :)
