Memory Lane
☆ November 4, 2011
At one point during my woeful computer zonking last month, I dug out a rarely-used external hard drive and found treasure on it!
Scans from my cross-country Vespa ride (during which I shot only film).
Many photos have been posted, over the years, on Vespa Vagabond,
but here are some new ones….
Wyoming. About 100 miles from where I now live.
Pawling, New York. The house where I was born.

Ha! I swear I once pulled off the road in that very same spot in Wyoming to let my boys pee. Okay, I may have peed, too.

these make me want to go back and read the whole blog again. Isn’t it “funny” that fate brought you only 100 miles from where you are now?

What a wonderful discovery! I love coming across pictures long forgotten :) The picture of the house you were born in is stunning. I love the light!

I love pics from a good road trip. I’m sure you are a much different person these days and that trip wasn’t too long ago. Wouldn’t it be cool to have pre Wyoming Shreve meet the Shreve of today?

Actually born in the house?

I’m moving out of my tiny apartment into a house, and have to go through all of my belongings, and it is so fun and lovely to come across old memories—journals, photos, ticket stubs and the like. Thank you for sharing these!

You were born in Pawling???? I spent so much time in that town when I lived in NYC in my early twenties… what are the odds?
xoxox,

Do you still have the Vespa? I know you have said something about it but my memory fails me tonight.
Great photos.

Love the house, what year is it?

i think s. still has the vespa because.. well it’s not easy to sell a vespa when the keys are missing. gaaaaaa! lol s. my guess is.. find the gloves you wore to ride, and the keys will be within ten feet probably in an old coat pocket. surely they are not in your leather pants pocket..? and stop calling me shirley. memory lane.. lol. now where are those dang keys.

I so love your grandmother’s blog! She is so wonderful and insightful. I hope to be as erudite as her at that age!

What a wonderful house. I hope you’ll write about it in future; what is its history?

Great photos.
Where was “Memory Lane”, do you remember? (Hey, that pun was NOT intended– but it works!)

Dear Ms. Shreve —
I’m a brand-new subscriber; just finished your book which I read in just a few sittings. Oh my……thank you!
What has especially prompted me to write is that I live right outside of Pawling, in Poughquag and stumbled upon the last picture in this section. Small, small world.
I have a very small and modest site but would like permission to post a link to The Daily Coyote and perhaps a photo of Charlie in my little blog. What do you think?
Regards, Penny
