Oh, how quickly they grow ~ “Baby” no longer looks like a new-born. What a beauty!
March 26th, 2012 @ 8:15 am
I am amazed at how expressive their little faces are! precious . . .
March 26th, 2012 @ 8:44 am

March 26th, 2012 @ 10:23 am
So cute. Kinda makes me want to be a vegetarian.
March 26th, 2012 @ 10:33 am
An all-black calf– cool!
to Theresa: actually this IS a new-born– new “baby”, not “Sir Baby.” See post called “Good Things” down towards the end of it for details.

So sweet. I just love when big animals curl up like little lambs. I used to love when my dog, Hope, did that (and at 75 lbs, she was tiny compared to this baby).

I don’t know why, but I love her tail…It looks sooo fuzzy! Remind me of a pipecleaner lol.

That image just screams “contentment”…lovely!

Is she going to get a “star” name too?
Atria
Cygnus
Diadem
Maia
Shaula
Zosma

I’m kinda partial to Diadem myself.

So beautiful. What are you going to name her?
March 26th, 2012 @ 2:10 pm
She’s beautiful!

I got my cows all confused again, that’s not Oreo, who is she, I remember Star of course, I need a family picture .
March 26th, 2012 @ 4:18 pm
So sweet!
Star’s butt in title and picture cracked me up and made me laugh. Great to laugh on a Monday.
March 26th, 2012 @ 6:36 pm
Awwww. I think Star’s baby might possibly be an Audrey,as in Hepburn–another classic doe-eyed beauty. Such long lashes and big, limpid eyes!
(Unless the little heartbreaker is of male persuasion, in which case he might be a Depp?)
March 26th, 2012 @ 7:49 pm
Adorable!

Etoile!

I just love that little bottom! I just want to pat it! Is that just “bed hair” on her quarters or is she already branded?
March 27th, 2012 @ 7:50 am
W~ bed hair!
March 27th, 2012 @ 8:02 am
How long do they need to remain indoors after birth? With the Wyoming fickle weather, do they risk getting too cold if they are outside too soon?
March 27th, 2012 @ 1:49 pm
Wendy– I looked at the flattened-down patch of hair on the calf’s rump/flank and I swear– I see the image of a cow’s head in profile! Crazy tricks our eyes can play on us.
March 27th, 2012 @ 2:04 pm
I LOVE it when you post pictures of the cows. Bulls, steers, calves, Daisy, Fiona, anybody. LOVE the cowses!!
March 27th, 2012 @ 2:23 pm
I have been reading your blog way too long for this to be the calf of a calf I remember reading about!!
March 27th, 2012 @ 7:38 pm
Now I know where “cowlick” came from.
March 28th, 2012 @ 7:19 am

I’m sorry … I just read about the little one’s passing.
She was blessed to be loved and cared for in her short time here on Earth. It’s always so sad to lose these special angels.
