Task Master Meow

☆ November 1, 2012

kingmeow

As I lounge in your chair on my throne, you shall WRITE!

~ NaNoWriMo starts today ~
I wrote 1487 words while doing laundry this morning, 400 of which were about a vulture landing on a fencepost. Hoping for an end of the day total of 2000…
Otherwise I’ll have to answer to Eli.

    Eli!!!

Man, he has got some serious Winter Jowl Syndrome going on!

(That’s what I call it when cats’ cheeks get full and fluffy for winter)

That cat is cool! My favorite trick or treaters last night was a kitty cat. She was a tiny human… could have been about the size of Eli. He is huge!!

Eli is so fluffy! He’ll smother you with his fluff! Haha!

Great to see Hizzoner again. His ears look small; is it just winter fluff or did they get chewed by kittens?

flap, flap, flap, vulture landing on a fence post causing a ruckus in the vultures already hanging out and waiting for the breeze to rise. Looking forward to it.

    Ha, Aleta – “Hizzoner”

He really does look like a miniature lion in this shot, doesn’t he? When reading these comments to him, please delete “miniature” from your discourse. Thank you. :)

I am glad to see His Meowness is doing well.
He certainly looks like a strict task master.

That cat’s an Eli imposter. Can’t be him.

Today I wrote three words for NaNoWriMo: “There was this dog.” But that’s three more than I’ve written on this book in years. So it was a good day.

Ha, just kidding. Four words. Just testing your math skills. Ugh. Not really. Stupid latte.

After you took this, did you go bury your face in his fluffy abdomen, or were you strong enough to resist?

And those pink paw pads… delicious!

Hi Eli! I’ve been thinking about you and hoping you were doing well. I see you are – ruler of the household and all. You have a comfy place to relax!

Such a great expression on that face~ It’s realy good to see Eli.

I bet Eli swears–I’m quite sure a couple of my cats have “potty meows”.

There are so many adjectives running through my head right now trying to describe this cat. But you did it the best… task master suits him perfectly. He looks a bit testy, so I would be sure to get your work done. I hate to think of what the wrath of Eli must feel like, so you best get busy!

Penny ~ Yes! I cannot resist ~ I do it many times a day.

Aw, such a fluffy older gentleman cat! But yes, you must write. Or at least not occupy this chair which is made even more comfy with the helpful offering of your sweater.

Tough task master. Now I can see why he rules the roost…

Oh Deborah you are so correct. LOL As soon as I read your post, I went back for a quick look at that handsome fella, had to laugh, “damn, she is right” hahaha

  32. Isabel
    November 2nd, 2012 @ 11:36 am

@Amy: Really? I picture him as more of a Winston Churchill kind of man. Cat. Personality.

    I love winter fluff cats.

  33. Pat D.
    November 2nd, 2012 @ 11:40 am

@ Aleta: Looks to me as if Eli’s got his ears flattened a bit, showing his displeasure at the ever-present camera aimed at Himself (as the Irish say), as well as his sterness about running Shreve’s writing career.

Ha! Great to see Himself, all orange and in-charge, again.

Ahhhh, Eli. What a wise and wonderful wilderness cat you are.

  35. Karyn
    November 2nd, 2012 @ 1:26 pm

Good to see Eli is keeping you on task, but the urge to pet, cuddle and love his winter fluff must be overwhelming! He and Sir Baby are among my favorites in your farmily!

  36. Dana
    November 2nd, 2012 @ 3:51 pm

Eli looks like a taskmaster I wouldn’t want to cross!

  37. Claire

Cats rule their household. Plain and simple. Doesn’t matter who’s in their family they think (and usually do) run things.

Winter is gonna be rough. Do the other animals have thick winter coats already?

The first thing I thought of when I saw that stern, square-ish head, and his seating arrangement, and his taskmaster status, was this terrible pun: Chairman Meow

Admit it, the resemblance is uncanny: http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_Zedong

Eli has become quite the hunk…with maybe ali’l chunk? or is it that he’s just hunkered down and is indeed sportin’ his Winter coat? Thumbs up on the words…your words are always terrific and that is an Awesome chair!!!! :-)

Eli has a Games of Thrones to him there! You need to heed what he says . . .

Wow, Eli is definitely looking more and more like the master of his kingdom! He’s a big grizzled tom now!!

Oh my goodness. I decided to do NaNoWriMo. I started a couple of days late but I am at 4,693 words. I actually think it is going somewhere after lots of words and partial thoughts I organized an actual chapter today. Lots of starts to chapters. It just started flowing. Thank God for airports – that three hour layover in Denver was not wasted. I would not have done this or known about it without your posts :)

    November 5th, 2012 @ 5:37 pm

Good to have a taskmaster, for sure!
Btw, I hope it was you and not an e-mail hacker — you wrote to me that I won one of the plot books? Anyway, I didn’t get anything and just want to be sure it was you and that I didn’t give my address to a hacker — lol!

ha ha Chairman Meow! wish I had thoughta that one, I WAS thinking he looked chinese……..
Those ears – like helicopter blades at rest, that particular look always seems to deter the most curious of dogs. Well, my dogs, anyway.

N ~ it was me! the books were being mailed by the publisher so I don’t know precise details re/ timing, though they emailed me to say they’d been sent… keep me posted.

    November 5th, 2012 @ 7:54 pm

Love those ears!! Perhaps next November I will get my act together for NaNoWriMo…no way could I write a novel, but would like to just write more and this would be a perfect excuse!!

He looks like a small lion. Eli just makes me think of Greebo from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series… I can image Eli frightening the local wolf and coyote population and trying to take down an elk all by himself. He is so awesome.

    November 6th, 2012 @ 8:26 pm

Shreve — ‘k, thanks for the heads-up — so glad it was you, not a hack. :)

    Hey, Shreve …

How’s NaNoWriMo going? Part of the fun and challenge of this month is checking in with each other to help keep things rolling along. But I have a feeling you’re going strong on your own. You’ve already learned how to be self-disciplined and focused in your writing. But do you have any tips you can share? Things that work for you?

    Thanks!
