Beautiful photos of a gorgeous plant. I read your site all the time. This is maybe second time to comment since the beginning of Daily Coyote.

Those look like tulips and I certainly do not know the behavior of your cats. But tulips and other lily type plants are poisonous to cats. Knowing how smart you are, I’m pretty sure that you aleady know this but wanted to offer this just by mere chance you do not know. Please delete my comment if this info is not needed. Regards, yvonne

Beautiful – such a fresh, delicate pink. They’re nearly a necessity now, rather than a luxury, after this horrendous winter, right? If this isn’t a comment in a nutshell on your adventurous life, I don’t know what is; pretty vase of flowers next to antlers. Hehe.

This lovely pic makes me want to grab ’em and plant my face in their lovely fragrance. Was in Amsterdam a few years ago and entered the Bloemenmarkt, the floating market of Amsterdam’s flower trade. I’ve never smelled anything as glorious. Thanks for tweaking my memory. Here are some pics for an early February mini-vacay: https://www.google.com/search?q=flower+market+amsterdam&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Za32UoLRMeWwygGTroDAAg&ved=0CDoQsAQ&biw=1077&bih=597

This took me right back to February 1996 when I was studying in London UK. I saw some tulips this colour for sale at the grocers and bought a very small bunch – all I could afford but worth it. They lasted for ages! I put them in a drinking glass and sat them on my desk and gazed at them while I was studying. It was lovely. You have inspired me to go get some now, thanks!

Here’s the secret for keeping tulips perky: put a penny in the water. They really like copper, but you’ll have to find an older penny since the new ones are coated with mostly zinc.

Oh what a great idea! I painted me some SUMMER in my craft room this weekend – Aurora Orange! (Just think HomeDepot orange – and that’s what the wall color is….) VERY WARMING!

Shreve, I am really missing your (more frequent) posts, so this lovely spring burst was a treat. So, how’s that next book coming…?

It’s not just tulips — I think I see some daffodil buds in there, too. Must be gorgeous when they’re all open! (Like maybe today?)
    Happy spring thoughts, everyone!

Oh, Shreve, how lovely! And how clever of you to create your own spring in the midst of this abysmal winter. You’ve perked up more than your own spirits; you’ve lifted mine as well.

I, too, am heartily sick of this winter: constantly shoveling snow and dealing with roller coaster temperatures has really pushed me past my tolerance levels.

Each year I look forward to the Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Garden and I’m usually there on opening (members) day, desperate for the one sure sign that spring is nearly here.

Thanks so much for the spot of beauty! And blessings to you and Mike and all the furry farmily!

    Hugs,
    Theresa

    Gorgeous photos!
Tulips last longer if you only give them a little bit of water. Fill the vase a quarter or a third of the way. And frequently change the water. Take it from a Dutchie : ))

it must be in the air, lol. yesterday I bought myself some lovely pumpkin orange gerbera daisies, and some sort of filler, a green stemmy sort of plant with tiny little purple buds. In a cobalt vase, they fair scream spring sun life!
