Chickens are so bizarre and alien (though yours are beautiful, too!). I think it’s because they never make smooth motions. They’re like hurky-jurky old wind up toys.
March 19th, 2014 @ 5:52 am
I love the sounds of contented chickens!
March 19th, 2014 @ 6:08 am
Oh my goodness gracious… who knew chickens were THAT into bananas!! That was adorable. Thanks for sharing.
March 19th, 2014 @ 6:18 am
I love the little sounds they make and the clink of beak on plate. :D
March 19th, 2014 @ 7:34 am
Long, long ago and far, far away, I had chickens as pets. I enjoyed hearing and seeing yours today. PS. Have you shared what ‘baby-somethings’ you are preparing for? I have a cardboard box. Maybe I could get some baby-somethings, too! :)

Well done Shreve, your video skills have improved! That’s a video from your phone I’m thinking, more and more I’m tempted to get one. The chickens are BEAUTIFUL, such a variety of colors! Hope you share more videos.
March 19th, 2014 @ 8:59 am
Do you get banana flavored eggs?
March 19th, 2014 @ 9:22 am
I love the black and white one who is so intent on stuffing her face that she will not be moved… until the gold one just stomps through the whole group, across the plate.
March 19th, 2014 @ 9:31 am
It’s not a party until someone runs through the middle of the plate!
March 19th, 2014 @ 10:19 am
I love this! Happy chickens make me happy :-)
March 19th, 2014 @ 10:31 am
HAPPY CHICKENS!This made my day. I just finished a very sad (very good) book, and this helps.
March 19th, 2014 @ 10:35 am
OH my goodness…that is the best part of my day!!! how funny and wonderfull!!!
thanks for sharing!
March 19th, 2014 @ 10:45 am
Hilarious and heart-warming. Thanks, Shreve.
March 19th, 2014 @ 12:23 pm
Boy! They don’t take long.
March 19th, 2014 @ 12:35 pm
Chickens are actually little garbage disposals and will eat any type of leftover. They also like their own egg shells!
March 19th, 2014 @ 3:01 pm
J ~ The babies are late! They were due to arrive last week but now maybe later this week? You never know with babies :)
M ~ Yes, got a cellphone and it sure makes video easier for me. I aim to do more. Love having a camera with me more often, in the form of the phone! Check out Republic Wireless, $10/month!
MM ~ Ha, no, but they are declared The Best Eggs Around by all who’ve had ’em. Bananas must be the secret ingredient.
A ~ LOL
R ~ What book?
PS ~ They are little pigs.
B ~ Yes! All eggshells go back to them.
March 19th, 2014 @ 3:08 pm
OMG love it!
March 19th, 2014 @ 3:27 pm
Shreve, I was just wondering, seeing this, and I am sure others have already asked, but does Charlie ever try to get the chickens? (After all he is a coyote, and they are “good eating!” LOL
March 19th, 2014 @ 4:12 pm
I would check out Republic W but I’m in Canada and they aren’t. Far more expensive here and I’ll manage without one as long as I can although the camera is exceptional, better than my camera I think. Thanks for mentioning it though and I look forward to more videos.
March 19th, 2014 @ 5:30 pm
SG ~ they don’t run in the same area, so it’s not an issue. I’m sure if one walked under his nose, he’d dine on it, but he doesn’t really pay much attention to them on a daily basis.
March 19th, 2014 @ 7:31 pm
so fun!! love the sound of chickens clucking! thanks for posting!
March 19th, 2014 @ 7:55 pm
Those are some seriously spoiled chickens!
(I mean that in a good way – it’s nice to see such a happy flock!)
March 19th, 2014 @ 8:25 pm
Well, that was fun – thanks! Such exquisitely spoiled, beautiful birds. I’m struck, as always, by how striking each one is. Was that La Demoiselle who strutted her bad a$$ across the plate?
I’m curious about what chickens eat – I mean, if they can go nuts over bananas – so I landed on this site. Assume you’ve read and could write one yourself, Shreve, but for anyone else who’s curious: http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/chicken-treat-chart-the-best-treats-for-backyard-chickens
I like the popcorn and yogurt idea, but who knew they eat animal protein? I didn’t. :)
March 20th, 2014 @ 10:41 am
Ok, I see a buff Orpington for sure. Maybe a Rhode Island Red? White Leghorn, ah say, ah say! What about the pretty speckled girl. Sussex or Wyandotte or?
March 20th, 2014 @ 10:49 am
We don’t love cell phones, but living semi-rural we’ve decided it’s a big help in terms of safety. So I took a look at Republic and am pretty impressed.
No contract, free roaming (we’re just on the edge of their coverage area), and we don’t want to pay for data since we’re usually near Wifi.
Which phone did you choose to buy? How long have you been with them?
Love the chickens! We’re hoping to welcome some into our family soon. :o)
March 20th, 2014 @ 12:12 pm
Bananas! You must have made a trek into town…
March 20th, 2014 @ 5:05 pm
That was really cool and something I’ve never seen or heard before. Is it ok to pass this on to facebook?
March 20th, 2014 @ 6:17 pm
T ~ you may!
March 21st, 2014 @ 4:48 am
:)
March 21st, 2014 @ 1:51 pm
Not exactly delicate and refined about it, are they? LOL
March 21st, 2014 @ 9:55 pm
How very colorful they are. And such little gluttons. Sure are cleaning the plate.
I love the sound of their little chicken contented murmurs.
Did you read the article on the Chicken from Hell dinosaur?
When I see chickens I think of them as little dinosaurs. Dinosaurs among us still.
March 24th, 2014 @ 11:38 am
Big smile maker! Truly chicken zen!
March 26th, 2014 @ 8:53 am
Oh, they do love those nanners!
March 31st, 2014 @ 8:22 am
So sweet!

Hello all, here every one is sharing such familiarity, therefore it’s fastidious to
read this blog, and I used to pay a visit this web
site daily.
April 7th, 2014 @ 3:31 am
You want to find the mystery shopping websites for the
actual mystery shopping companies. If your ecommerce web store is slow
customers will simply shop someplace else. First, with the online
coupon itself and then by being paid for referring people to the merchant’s
website.

Oh! This made my day! So funny and refined at the same time!
