Aha! I found info on the goat tower.
That one is in Findlay, Illinois and is the third but the tallest. Built in 1998.

The first was built in Portugal a hundred years ago more or less.
The second in South Africa at the Fairview Cheese and Wine Farm.

All the builders seemed to have the same idea. To provide their goats with climbing space since they lived on flat land.

There is one in Norway modeled on the South African one that is modeled on the Portugal one. The Illinois one is also inspired by the South African one.

absolutely luv the goat tower.
more natural environment for goats than the ground level “boxes” most have to live in.

Thanks, mlaiuppa, for the goat tower research and links! So glad you tweeted about it, Shreve – an amazing find. How perfect – floors help support the structure, farmer hoses down the floors every six months, uses as fertilizer. Lucky goats. :)

M ~ Those goat tower links are so awesome!!! Mike wants to build one even though we don’t have goats. If he builds one, I will get goats! :)

I think those goat towers make awesome follys, plus they serve a purpose.
I’d only build mine two “stories” high as I’d want to go up there but I don’t care for heights.
I wonder if you can build chicken towers? A mini version for the chickens?
If you get goats, remember you can milk them and make awesome cheese.
