This black and white photo is an incredible show in shadow and light. I love it! For some reason when I see the small egg with the large egg, I am reminded of the story of Chicken Little–Chicken Little is about to hatch! Maybe his older sibling will help him out!

I just have to tell you that I just had something similar happen. We had a chicken lay a mini egg about 1/3 the size of a regular large size egg. (it ended up being just an egg white – no yolk!). Now, we have had two huge double yolk eggs in one week! Poor hen that laid them! Also, I love your photo.
