Leila Licking
☆ January 29, 2015
Little known cow fact: Cows (and bulls and calves and steers) lick the air when they are being scratched in a way they love, like a dog kicking the air with its leg. I filmed Leila while I was scratching her back. Caution: my video skills continue to hover in the D- range and my animal voice is ridic – save your eardrums and set your volume low!

So after all her Crayola genes, she turned out black? Wild!

I had a cat that would do the same when her rump was scratched. Odd, these instincts!

Cute! Horses do that nose wiggle thing too. I’ve had a three way with my horses, me scriching one of them and that one doing the nose thing with the other.

Udderly adorable!
I made eye contact with a donkey today and fell in love. Donkeys aren’t cows. Not sure why I had to share that.

That is darling. Love that cows have a way to show their joy just like dogs. My dog licks me when I give him belly rubs and his does a little hula back and forth when I scratch his butt.
But that head in the air, licking in ecstasy is such a cute cow thing.

My DOG does that!!! If I scratch about an inch from her tail on her back, she’ll lick the air until I stop. It makes me laugh and laugh..

I had a cat growing up that would continually sneeze as long as I took the area between my first and middle knuckles (make this area by almost making a fist) and rubbing back and forth between her whiskers and ears along her cheeks. She was content, it just made her sneeze continually. I have found no cat since that, if they allow, does not enjoy this kind of rubbing. None however, sneeze. I love animal’s idiosyncrasies.
