Recipe For Winter Sunbathing

☆ February 7, 2017

1) Toss a blanket over a fluffy patch of untouched snow.

2) Walk to one edge of the blanket, so that you are facing the sun with the blanket behind you, careful not to touch the blanket.

3) While facing the sun, squat over the blanket, then fall back into it.

(If you do this in one smooth motion, the snow under the blanket will perfectly conform to your body. This is the goal. Practice as necessary.)

4) Close your eyes and let the sun warm your face.

5) Breathe a little more slowly.

6) Realize that, despite everything else everywhere else, this moment is perfect.

    your scene sounds beautiful. :)
when i was a young teen, my family would go to the mountains. my cousin and i would layer up on clothes & snow gear, then walk to a remote tiny pond and make chairs out of snow. we would talk for hours until we couldn’t feel our feet, then head back to the cabin to thaw out.

1)toss blanket over fluffy patch of snow
2)carefully walk to the edge and get ready to lay down on it
3)start losing your balance a lil bit when a wild/domesticated animal zooms past.
4)w hardly any clothes on get splashed with snow then fall into a drift.
5)breathe real fast and attempt to not let the neighbor’s kids a few miles away learn some new words.
6)freeze your ever lovin huevos rancheros and think about how ms. stockton knows how to do it right and realize my life is basically a train wreck.

What a lovely image, Shreve! We’re due for some 5″-10″ on Thursday, but somehow, I think my experience is more likely to resemble Scotty’s rather than yours, Shreve, so maybe I’ll just hold onto the mental picture instead of going for reality.

    Very funny, SCOTTY!

If we only had some sun! It’s been a rare sight all January and Feb. is shaping up to be the same.

    Absolutely luv it!!!!

I use to do something similar many years ago but when it started looking like Scotty’s version (I don’t think the neighbours appreciated me laughing at 06:30), I stopped.

Now I bundle up warm, sit on a chair, sip hot cocoa and tell each neighbour as they go by.. yes I am fine, no I am not crazy, yes I actually like the cold weather, etc etc.
