Wild Life

☆ July 11, 2017

Yesterday, I saw:
a young fox
a vulture
an eagle
four doves
a large toad
a mule deer doe with two spotted fawns
three antelope – two does and a buck, and the buck raced a wide semicircle around us, going so fast, yet obviously not even exerting himself, it was thrilling to see.

It was all thrilling to see, especially considering that, these days, I am spending so much of my time on the computer working on THE BOOK. I haven’t seen a sunset or a shower in…. a while.

Speaking of the book! If you’ve ordered The Daily Coyote: Ten Years In Photographs, you will be receiving a VERY important email from me today. Please keep your eye out, and if you don’t see it, please check your spam/junk folder. And thank you!!!

I’m moving to Paris and have to empty out my life, 40 years of work, journals, photos etc and taking a shower is WAY down on my list of Must Do Things.

Survey completed and cover selected (tough choice).

I’m in awe of yesterday’s wildlife sightings; wish I could have been there with you!

When I visit my parents on the weekend my Mom and I sit on the couch and enjoy a little wild life spotting but nothing as exotic as yours.

Mostly hummingbirds at the feeder. We have noticed an increase in the variety of birds frequenting the bird bath. Some sort of robin and some sort of bluebird. I saw a hawk above the canyon last week. And there is a feral kitty living in their playhouse, maybe. More lizard this year including a baby in the bathroom sink I trapped and let go in the yard.

They used to have a dove that would build a nest every year in the garage. I haven’t seen her lately.

There used to be a red fox that would go up in the treehouse and was sleeping on the roof a few years ago. Haven’t seen him either.

There still aren’t nearly the birds I saw and heard in Italy. Everywhere I went I awoke to the sounds of bird singing. And I watched as flocks would circle and dance in the sky.

    I don’t see that here.

Pigeons and Sea Gulls don’t count.
