YAY!!! I love hearing about all your exploits with your farmily, and this is a perfect way to get extra looks on your farm (: Thank you Shreve!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:04 am
I love this picture because it captures that moment when the horse is really having an awesome time. And I would absolutely love to see more pictures of Ranger! I really am a horse freak because I love them so much and know tons about them. And it’s great that you have a new site. You have a talent for photographing and everyone loves to see it!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:05 am
so happy to see this site it looks great. Glad to hear that Frisco is keeping his horns =)
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:49 am
Charlie is great. Charlie is really wonderful but after your first book, that’s what really intrigues me. Your life! It is so different then the hubhub of 9 to 5, in a big city. I want to hear more about all your family, little things that may seem normal to you but for me would really be : ” Really? You do this how again?”. For exemple you say you took a bath or shower with Daisy’s milk, how did you do that? How much milk did you have spare to achieve that? :) Sounds silly, surely. For me, it’s fascinating! If I want a bath with milk, I’ll probably use a cup (or maybe powder) at most in my normal bath and forget about a shower of it! :D
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:49 am
I love this!! So excited for more pics & updates of the farmily! Great idea!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:01 am
Great website! You’ve covered everything I’ve been wondering about since your farmily has expanded. Great pics and stories. Thanks for sharing.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:07 am
congrats on a farmily-specific site! have to admit to wondering about the rest of the critters and felt like i was cheating on charlie by looking at the rest of the clan while on *his* site. [smile]
look forward to photos and updates. [charlie still has a hold on my heart, though….]
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:09 am
Shreve…this is so exciting! I am thrilled to see your new site and see you branching out! Can’t wait to read it all!
Take care and congrats…
Penny :)
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:21 am
Any chance you’re going to put an RSS feed on this site for those of us that like to follow via Google Reader, etc?
Looking forward to reading about the rest of Wyoming life.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:28 am
Congrats on the new site! I’d been getting curious about the other aspects of your rural WY lifestyle, so it is great to get some insight.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:29 am
My country for a non-truncated feed… is this possible??
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:29 am
I’ve been addicted to your blog since the beginning so the fact that there are now two makes me very happy! You are an inspiration to those of us city dwellers who want to feel like cowgirls!
Keep up the great work!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:29 am
The horses I cared for would always rub their heads on my back then go off for a good roll after a ride. It always seemed to make them so happy!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:31 am
I am so excited about this new site! I love hearing stories about all the animals, and I just love your photographs. I have a big soft spot for cows (my grandfather had a few when I was little). I am especially interested in the house you built. Did you use all reclaimed materials, how long did it take, things like that. I also listened to you on the Renegade Framer and you touched on spirituality, love to hear more about that. And the more photographs the better!!!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:33 am
Congrats on your new site. I am so excited to see the new posts unfold.
What would I like to see on this site? I am really stuck on Daisy!!! Baby is great too and I have to admit, I have been curious about what your horse looked like. So I guess bottom line is that I would love to hear and see more about your country life.
Thank you so much for opening up your world to us city folk and surburbanites. :)
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:38 am
Wonderful new site.. and I am Thrilled to see more of Ranger..! i would love to see more of him and your farmily here..hear about everyday life there with all your animals.. but also I would love love love! to have you post gluten free recipes! … and sell some of that cheese you say you would love to make.. I would definately be your first customer! Marlene from Cambria
March 23rd, 2010 @ 8:42 am
Enjoyed the new site.
Have to tell you…
Your comment about being 17 and knowing everything and how that got boring, caused me to laugh out loud! Thanks for the smile – I knew exactly what you meant.
Take care,
Lorie
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:08 am
Lovely!! I’m excited to hear/see/read more about the rest of the farmily :)
In the last few years my desire to become more self-sufficient has grown exponentially, so I’d love to hear anything related to that in addition to anything and everything farmily related (lots of your beautiful photography too, please!)
P.S. Will you be adding an RSS feed for those of us using Google Reader or the like? Massive thank you in advance. :)
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:12 am
I know it’s ancient history for you now, but I’d like to hear more about your cross-country trip on the Vespa, too. That early blog seemed to cover only a few of what must have been many more adventures….
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:13 am
Oh, this is exciting! I’ve been longing for more on the farmily, especially the cows and horses. My parents have a hobby farm with little livestock–two sheep, three goats and a small flock of ducks–but I’ve never owned anything substantially larger than myself.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:24 am
I was thinking that the first horse you got was a pregnant mare? Didn’t remember about Ranger & Houdini. Did I miss something?
Also where did you find that lovely perfect stamp and how did you decide on the name for the new blog? The graphics are nice. Did you do all that yourself? Looking forward.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:24 am
Rock on, Shreve! I am honored to share this space with you and the always-delightful Farmily.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:26 am
Thank you for sharing your life adventures with you family of animals…at nearly 70 years, i am in awe of what you are doing…and making life all it can be!!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:30 am
congrats on the new site. it looks fantastic!
so looking forward to how it all unfolds.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:30 am
Just finished reading your book–my aunt lives in Worland and you had signed a copy for her:) Can’t wait to here more about your adventures!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:31 am
Thank you, Shreve! I LOVE everything you write, so thank you for giving me even more to read and more of your gorgeous pics to look at. This site has promptly been added to my feed reader!
P.S. As if you’re not busy enough… but when is your Vespa book coming out?
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:34 am
Oh! I love the new site – I’ve always wondered what else happens and what the rest of the Farmily is up to.
But please, please, please — a full feed!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:42 am
WOW–your new site is just terrific. Thanks many times over for some of the best reading and photos I’ve seen on the ‘net in the last couple of years. Now to get added stories, etc. on your delightful farmily just makes my day. Cheers!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:50 am
This is great, I am so happy to look at Cisco and Baby and Daisy. We are relieved you got help, now, we get more pictures.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:56 am
This totally rocks! Thanks for taking this new blog/site on. I can’t wait to hear what you are up to with your horse and cows! Looks great – the photos are outstanding as always!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:57 am
Love the new site. I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t a blog with more stories. This is great! How about some Eli and Chloe stories and more stories about Charlie? I really enjoy hearing about your daily life.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:13 am
The new site looks awesome! I look forward to keeping up with this blog too!
Me, I’m a horse girl. I’d love to hear some more stories about Ranger up there. He looks like a character.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:19 am
I really, really, really, really want a print of this in my house… it makes me remember why I want to go back out west so badly.
I’m also so glad you’ve got a second blog going – it’s always great to hear about Charlie but now it’s even better with two things to check every day. Thanks for being such an inspiration, Shreve!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:35 am
A gift, a gift — a new Shreve blog!!
Yesterday I spent over an hour going back through DC trying to find the pic of Daisy and Baby where he looms next to her. I wanted to show a Swedish friend. She was so frightened at the concept of a coyote that she started out standing 6 feet from my Mac. Didn’t take long for her to fall in love with him.
I’m so happy you will be posting more about your farmily, and that it will be quick and easy to find their pics. How awesome that you launched it with lots of entries, so I didn’t have to suffer addictive jonesing waiting for tommorow’s entry. And I hope this draws enough traffic for you to soon afford those boots.
One invasive personal Q I wonder about when I read Svensto: you have been unable to travel because of the needs of Charlie and the rest. Now that you have help and presumably Mike can take care if Charlie, will you at some point be able to visit your human family? Your life sounds wonderful, but I would ache to see my family if I lived so far from them all.
Thanks for all you give us!!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:36 am
Dear Shreve,
Thank you so much for starting this site. I am interested in anything you choose to share about your life with the farmily. The Daily Coyote is a source of awe and inspiration to me. I hope that you, Charlie, Chloe, Daisy, Eli, Frisco and Ranger have a long and happy life together.
~ Victoria
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:44 am
Oh! i love this picture and your blog looks great! i am so glad that you have time for this now that Sarah is there! i look foward to reading about your life and such aside from charley!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:46 am
I just LOVE your new site!!!
Love Frisco, your horses, it is awesome.
Laughed out loud over the boots and girl, you deserve them no matter what they get covered in or how fast it happens!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your farmily with us all. It puts a smile on my face every single day!!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:51 am
I love the quality of your photos and can’t wait to see more!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:52 am
Shreve, I’m so happy to see the new website! Yay!
Frisco is so handsome!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:55 am
Congrats on the new website, Shreve! The design is very tasty and the pictures are awesome. As much as I love, and will continue to follow faithfully, Charlie and The Daily Coyote, it will be great to see more of your (and his) extended farmily (not to mention the elusive Mike @ some point!).
Have you ever thought of doing a serious photography book, a la Jay Dusard or Barbara what’s-her-name (I’ll get back to you on that as soon as my tiny brain remembers it . . . I’m thinking something like “McCleave” but somehow that doesn’t sound quite right). Dusard did the most wonderful B&W photos of working cowboys — his long-out-of-print book, if you can even find it, goes for many hundreds of dollars. McCleave (?) is more contemporary; she does ranch/landscape/livestock scenes and I think does color as well as B&W.
BTW, I think you should go for those boots, girl! One of my rules of life is that the only boots I regret are the ones I didn’t buy.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:06 am
Congratulations on this new and awesome website! The photos are fantastic and very expressive (as are Charlie’s, Chloe’s and Eli’s)and the information is great. I can see that this is going to become another daily addiction for me. Keep up the great work!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:12 am
you made my day when i saw the new site was up. congrats on a job well done.
as to what i would like to see? well, everything you have here already, just more of it! the farmily is gorgeous and the life is so drastically different than mine here in pittsburgh, pa. please post anything *you* want here…we’ll enjoy it, trust me!
your eye and photography skills bring me a bit of joy each day. thank you for sharing.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:27 am
So excited! I have been dying for pictures of Daisy and Frisco and the horses. Thank you so much for giving us the new site!!!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:31 am
Woo hoo! So excited about this blog :) The more pictures and stories about your daily life, the better. Us cowgirl wanna-be’s will be lovin’ it!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:45 am
More about the horses, please! (Personalities, how you got them, etc!)
Thanks for sharing your life with us!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 11:54 am
New site looks great. And what a magnificent picture of Ranger: he looks so wild, almost dragon-like, with his mane like a spiny crest and his neck rising so high from his shoulders.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:00 pm
Ditto what everyone has said. More Ranger – I wish there was scratch-n-smell posts. I think I miss the smells of horses, cows, farm the most. I love visiting your site(s). Keep on keeping on.
(maybe 1 size larger font for the poor sighted?)
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:03 pm
Lovely new blog! I’m looking forward to seeing more pix and reading more stories about life in Wyoming.
PS Get the boots!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:07 pm
Here’s a follow-up to my earlier idiot comment . . . it’s Barbara Van Cleve I was thinking about (oh well, at least I had the “Barbara” right and “McCleave” isn’t all THAT different, is it?). Here’s a link to her website: http://www.barbaravancleve.com
You could be the next her!
And an indirect link to Jay Dusard is: http://www.jaydusard.com/documentary-jay-dusard.htm
Don’t know if you could be the next him, only because I think he documents a way of life that is, quite sadly, almost gone. His pictures, and the characters in them, are absolutely gorgeous. As a photographer, I think you’d really appreciate both Dusard and Van Cleve.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:08 pm
Shreve,
Congratulations on the new site. I love this photo of Ranger. His motion and joy are luminous!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:10 pm
Congrats on new site. I would love to see your kitchen and how you cook, store ingredients, dishes, that kind of thing!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:13 pm
I’m excited to read more about the farmily–might there be an rss feed coming? That would help a lot.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:24 pm
Hey, congrats on the new site! It looks great, and I’m already learning new things. I’d like to see more pictures of Ranger, Daisy, and all the rest of your animals. Please keep us updated on the ox-in-training, too, which is probably something most of us don’t know much about (well, I don’t anyway!) Peace, and take care!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 12:51 pm
I definitely want to see more of what you’ve already done here … photos with a nice amount of writing. Sometimes I would feel frustrated over at your other site, seeing all those great photos but no accompanying text. You lead such an interesting life. To finally be able to read about what you see and experience every day is a true treat for me … even the boot post. Loved it. This new website is really going to increase your marketability, so watch out for increased readership and the accompanying call/lure of Hollywood. Just keep on keeping it real, as I’m sure you will. You’re an inspiration because you don’t sell out and instead seem really grounded and full of love and heart.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 1:13 pm
I really enjoy your blogs. I would love to see some wildlife photos. You mentioned the duck and manny but no pictures so would love to see them now. Also I didn’t know cowboys still existed so how about a couple of those pictures. Geez I’m done now. Thanks Shreve
March 23rd, 2010 @ 1:38 pm
Thank you, Shreve, for this beautiful space. I love seeing and reading about the farmily and the everyday successes and challanges.
There is one thing I have wondered about, if it is not too personal. It gets cold where I live, but not nearly as cold as Wyoming. I find I need a layer under my jeans in the winter for working outdoors, so I find I have 2 sizes of jeans, my winter (big) jeans that I can comfortably wear long johns under, and my mild weather jeans, when I only need 1 layer on my lower body. So what do you do?
March 23rd, 2010 @ 1:51 pm
Yay! A blog that includes the entire farmily. Thanks, Shereve. I love your photography and can’t wait to see current pics of all the farmily. I would love to see more landscape pics of Wyoming and the “normal” farmily related things you do.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 1:55 pm
It is so great to see your life and the awesome animals in it, thank you so much for sharing it with us!
ps after you posted that random video on dailycoyote.net, you got me hooked on the song “home,” love it!!
Happiness to you and your farmily!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 1:58 pm
LOVE the new blog! :) I would love to know more about what you do with daisy’s milk! I am sure there are reasons you don’t disclose much about it, but I would be interested in more details about your relationship with Mike!
But I’ll take what I can get and love it!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 2:06 pm
This website is a great completement to the Daily Coyote. It is fascinating to see how you live in the middle of nowhere, and you seem to love and respect animals as much as I do. There is a spiritual connection that I feel with you, beyond words. You are an AMAZING photographer. Thanks for sharing!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 3:09 pm
What can I say, Shreve, you fascinate us!
Some things I’ve been wondering about: didn’t you have a pregnant mare at one time? Or one you were thinking about breeding? I’d love an update on that!
And this may be too personal for a public website, but I was wondering if you’ve been able to see your family since you moved to Wyoming. Do they ever visit you?
I think it would be fun if you explained a typical “day in the life” in Ten Sleep.
Anyway, I love the new site! Beautifully done!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 3:12 pm
I love this. I’m always dying to hear more about your farm life. Your relationship with your Farmily seems so intimate. I can’t wait to have my own space some day to have a few animals of my own. Thank you for sharing more with your readers! Clearly I’m not the only interested follower!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 3:33 pm
It’s wonderful to hear about your farmily and the different personalities of the animals in your care. I’d also be interested in hearing about the house you built. Loved your book.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 3:35 pm
I am thrilled to find that you have this new site devoted to the rest of your farmily. I do so enjoy all your pictures and stories. Will Chloe and Eli be featured in this site as well or will they continue to the main companions of Charlie in Daily Coyote? Daily Coyote and Carol Greet’s site, Overlook, are part of my daily routine. And now, I have this site to look forward to. Thank you!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 3:54 pm
WOW what fun more pics and more stories. I love everyhting about animals and their families. Love Charlie and the pics. Love my dogs, parrots and horses and ride every chance I get.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 4:10 pm
Thank you for creating this new site so we can see all of the farmily… I’m in love!! It’s so nice to finally see Ranger- in action, no less.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 6:43 pm
HI! I love reading about Charlie, Chloe, and Eli! I’m excited about another website to learn more about the farm and other great animals you share your life with. I’d love to hear about the animals, what they do, what you’ve taught them, their different behaviors…. anything you’re willing to share about life there in Wyoming.
I’m fascinated by cows – love the pictures on this website – 400 pounds at 3 months?? Clearly, I had no idea how big cows/bulls can get! So sweet to hear Mike keeps his cattle in retirement – it’s nice that he can do this for them.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:29 pm
Love the new site! Highly recommend both of your books….
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:40 pm
I love your new site! Thank you for sharing your Farmily with us.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 7:54 pm
Gorgeous picture. I love the filtered light. Well done. I have two questions for you:
1) Do you have your own garden? With your store being so far away, I wondered how you got your fresh veggies.
2) Do you have any chickens? Are they free range?
Great pictures and Frisco is darling…weird thing to say about a bull but he is.
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:09 pm
Someone else already asked, but milk bath/shower? I guess I never thought that was something people actually do! ;) It sounds glorious! Do you warm it up first? Do you mix with water? Also, ever thought of trying your hand at cheese?
Finally, what are all the animals in the Farmily?
March 23rd, 2010 @ 9:50 pm
I love your new site, I’ve followed your adventures with Charlie and will continue to do so, but it’s great that now you can share more about the other members of your farmily. I love horses and cats so would like to see more about Eli and Ranger and the other horses in your life. I’ve thought about a dairy cow myself so I’m fascinated reading about Daisy, Baby (want to hear about his ox-training) and Frisco. Would also love to see, hear more about your house, a day in the life etc.
PS: buy the boots! Life is too short not to!!
March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:39 pm
For me, Charlie, is still the main focus, but
it is interesting to see the other side of your
life, since I’ve been following The Daily for
over a year….I envy you, living your life
in a way that most of us cannot, closer to nature
and not living close to fast food places, malls,
lots of cars & people, Thank You for sharing your
life with us, Shreve, it is a life that I wish I
could live, but at least I get to see it through
your eyes and unique photos, Thanks so much.
March 24th, 2010 @ 6:25 am
I love this idea of yours. It keeps itself for the Farmily, and the other site for Charlie, who, I might add, is who got us all here in the first place.
At this rate Shreve, you will have such a large farm, with so many animals, you will have to hire hands.
Isn’t it funny, how fast they all grow? Seems to me Frisco just came into this world, and already he has “buds”. I have visions of nicely plowed fields of whatever grows out there, and a tired Frisco munching on dinner with a satisfied, peaceful look on his face.
Daisy off with her new baby.
Whew, a whole new page!!!
March 24th, 2010 @ 9:40 am
Hurrah! I have been following you from the begininng, and read your book and vespa vagabond! Can’t wait for more adventures with the farmly :)
March 24th, 2010 @ 10:44 am
I love this picture. The looks horses get on their faces after a great roll… the lips, the eyes, the ears. GREAT shot!!
March 24th, 2010 @ 10:56 am
More Eli! And i am curious to know about the relationship between your animals. How they behave around each other… Little funny thing they do… And also how you adapt to that life.
I really like your sites. Thanks a lot!
March 24th, 2010 @ 11:10 am
I love your new website, you have done a wonderful job with it and after reading all the above comments, I agree with all of them – especially the one about more Eli and Chloe. I find the pictures and your comments about your life and all of your animals echoing around in my mind all day, giving me such joy. I talk so much about Charlie my friends eyes glaze over and they can’t imagine my obsession. Thank you for this new site to enter your life.
March 24th, 2010 @ 11:48 am
Now one of my favorite photos of yours.
March 24th, 2010 @ 5:36 pm
It’d be nice to see more of Vespa Vagabond if you’ve got more time now
March 27th, 2010 @ 7:41 am
more chloe would be fun. she sometimes seems like the middle kid who doesn’t quite get all the fame and glory of the others. we don’t really know too much about her personality, relationship with you etc.
