I live on a farm and one of the greatest joys I’ve discovered is being able to pee outside whenever I so desire. No close neighbors, so no arresting officers. See y’all at sunset!
August 25th, 2011 @ 10:22 am
So, if you were to continue this whole handwritten blog thing even after you resume living in your cabin, I’m pretty sure no one would mind.
I bet it’s been said before, but it’s kind of like getting a personal letter from you and that makes what you have written even more special.
August 25th, 2011 @ 10:25 am
I live out in the country on 2 acres surrounded by 120 acres with no close neighbors and plenty of large healty trees and a really long driveway, so I can pee anywhere and everywhere I desire! It is so nice to be able to walk the dogs in the fields and be able to “drop trowel” whenever I feel the urge!
Like Farmer lady said…See ya at sunset!!
August 25th, 2011 @ 10:34 am
too funny about the sunset pee. i’ve joined in with global prayers and meditations at prescribed times in the past, but this will be a first.
August 25th, 2011 @ 10:55 am
Would a sunrise pee suffice? :)
August 25th, 2011 @ 11:17 am
Hahahahaha! That was funny to me! Especially since I live with an officer. ;)
August 25th, 2011 @ 11:53 am
“But Officer, I was told to cop a squat by this blog.”
I agree with the post about the handwritten blogs. I love them and you have great penmenship.
I’ll be out at sunset taking George Burns and Gracie Allen my beagles out to celebrate with all of you….. As for myself – uh, the neighborhood kids are out at that time too. ;)
August 25th, 2011 @ 12:07 pm
Okay, I have to confess…I was trying to read between the lines of your snippet…the impressions left by, hmmm, maybe a love letter to Mike?? Hee Hee…
August 25th, 2011 @ 12:11 pm
meet you at sunset!
August 25th, 2011 @ 12:19 pm
Thanks every one for a much needed laugh.
Now is this sunset at eastern, central, or pacific time????
There are no private fields in my part of town, so will a couple of photos of fields in the bathroom do???
August 25th, 2011 @ 12:41 pm
bonnie – oh, too funny!!
dogheart – just as good!
brynne – aww!
renee – HA!! I did that too. It’s just a letter to my agent. nothing steamy. but maybe I should do a post where there actually ARE two readable messages, one far less obvious… hmmmmm!
mv – no no no! surely there is a west facing street nearby with little traffic??
August 25th, 2011 @ 1:38 pm
But, how can it be an “outhouse” with no walls? An “out-pavilion” maybe….
August 25th, 2011 @ 1:40 pm
I’m really digging the hand written blogs. I used to be uncomfortable peeing outside, but the more I backpack the less I worry about it. Finding the right view is key to a productive hike :-)
August 25th, 2011 @ 3:19 pm
I live on a very busy, tree lined (all branches etc below 6 feet pruned off), west facing street with lots of children, and the gentlemen in blue patrolling on a regular basis.I will think of something. Especially a rational explanation as to what I was doing.
Now if I can only figure out how to squat with out falling over, giggling uncontrollably and totally blowing my cover.

Pissin Outside
from Billy Jonas Live (for adult/general audiences)
Pissin’ Outside
The steam begins to rise
It slowly effervesces
Leaves are crinkling
Under sweet caresses
I cherish this moment of natural bliss
Nothing is missing
When I’m pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
You don’t know what you’re missin’
Till you start pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
You don’t know what you’re missin’
Till you start pissin’ outside
You know a rock, a bush, a shrubbery, a tree
You can go anywhere you please
There are so many things that you can christen
So make it like your mission and just start
Pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
You don’t know what you’re missin’
Till you start pissin’ outside
You know my favorite place is in the virgin snow
You find a fresh canvas and let it flow
Sign your name and watch it glisten
Unless you’re in Alaska
Then your task is to go faster
Cause it freezes and you have to walk backwards while you’re
Pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
You don’t know what you’re missin’
Till you start pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
Pissin’ outside
You don’t know what you’re missin’
Till you start pissin’ outside
Because the grass is always greener
When you water with your wiener outside

MV…….Hahahahahaha!! too funny:>) and Jackie, just as good!! Loved it!
August 25th, 2011 @ 7:13 pm
As a farmer’s grand-daughter and an avid hiker, I grew up “going” outside and still do. I’ve often sent hiking buddies over a ridge saying, “Give me a minute… I’ll catch up to ya! And since I plan to be hiking at sunset…

One of the most lovely experiences I’ve had is taking an outdoor shower. It was at the home of a friend who keeps a hot/cold outdoor shower for when his invited geology student groups show up; I was a member of such a group. I’d strained my ankle and was not willing to go to the last geologic stop of the day, so my professor dropped me off at our friend’s home and took the class on to the last stop.
So, late afternoon… outdoor shower, with only a few recycled wood panels to enclose my efforts… the sun was low over the Sierras, and the White Mountains to the east were cast in a fascinating array of shadows… and there were aspens shading the sky above. Soap never felt so heavenly, and hot water was a miracle. I felt supremely gifted when I stepped out of that shower space, at least until I put my weight on my cranky ankle. (I iced the ankle and it worked well the next day.)
August 25th, 2011 @ 8:11 pm
Oh, there’s nothin like peeing outside. Most of my friends are amazed that I can do it.
August 25th, 2011 @ 8:21 pm
We’ve known this from the start;)
August 25th, 2011 @ 10:41 pm
I came back with a question….
I’ve noticed that often my dogs feel the need to “cover my scent” which clearly means they view me as some weaker member of the pack they need to protect! I was wondering if Charlie or Chloe (or Eli, who is clearly the pack leader!) do this??

~bbc commentator continues~ we traveled into the hills of wyoming at sunset..perhaps to experience some of the various wildlife as the sun goes down in the west. what is that up ahead? it seems as if .. yes.. it’s..it’s.. a cow! and there are several canines biting each other on the butt. there also seems to be someone sitting.. yes, it’s a young woman and……omg!………..her feet are very tan.
August 26th, 2011 @ 8:01 am
Love it Scotty!, we’d all forgotten about those tanned feet. Too many people would notice me so I’m out but I’m thinking of all of you. Here’s a thought, we could squat down and pee our pants and everyone would look the other way but if we drop them there’d be a crowd. It’s been a long time since I squatted and felt the breeze, this weeble does wobble and does fall down these days.

Peeing outside is all fine and dandy until you live some place warm and humid that happens to have mosquitoes (not mosquito hawks!) the size of a quarter.
I will tell you from experience that it is not comfortable to have your entire buttock replaced by one large, inflamed mosquito bite.
This and this alone taught me to pee standing up as a girl.
August 26th, 2011 @ 12:34 pm
When I first moved to Montana (almost 18 years ago) and started hiking and snowshoeing…I had a hard time with the whole outside peeing…I have since discovered the JOY and as I live on a little over 8 secluded acres, it is regular joy :)! (Even in winter!) I don’t know…could a therapist have some fun with that??? I do like my washer & dryer, though…
August 26th, 2011 @ 12:37 pm
Oh, Holly… Interesting. My dog – and there have been 2 since I’ve lived where I do… sometimes interested and sniff but neither covered. What that means, either way, I don’t know.
August 26th, 2011 @ 1:54 pm
Thanks Ketra but that would take all the fun out of it. It’s the breeze on the bum that is the best part.
August 26th, 2011 @ 2:05 pm
everyone who has commented here is awesome!!!
August 26th, 2011 @ 4:15 pm
If your outhouse has no walls, you can’t really be IN it. In fact, I don’t think it qualifies as an outhouse. Isn’t it just a hole in the ground or a bench seat?
August 26th, 2011 @ 6:47 pm
i have an overgrown yard with big houses on either side and i still think pee’ing outside is tops. my husband gives me a side eye, but i think deep-down he thinks it’s funny.
August 26th, 2011 @ 7:39 pm
Shelia and Ginny, use your imaginations and don’t be so literal! The earth is our home, it is outside the boundaries of our walled homes so therefore it is our “outhouse”. Go have a pee outside and see how homey it feels. Sun is just about down here.
August 26th, 2011 @ 10:01 pm
Yes, when camping out in South Dakota I discovered the real reason women in all “primitive” cultures wear skirts. They would simply be more practical. :-)
August 26th, 2011 @ 10:32 pm
Been there, done that!!!
August 26th, 2011 @ 11:44 pm
Colleen G., me too and I’ll probably do it again if I need to.
This was a really interesting thread I’m glad I dropped by before going to sleep.
August 27th, 2011 @ 7:57 pm
Only here. Only -here-, out of all the internet, would there be a group of people who could gather in a figurative little circle and have a nice, sensible, thought-provoking conversation about pee. XD
That said, I’d love to try a sunset pee at some point in my life, but not quite yet–how to explain that to the parents, hm? :P
August 27th, 2011 @ 8:03 pm
i live in big sky country…been here for the past 31 years…a good friend taught my 3 year old daughter how to pee ou side a long time ago…it is one of her most happiest memories…peeing outside at sunset and sunrise is a regular accurance…never really thought much of it…other than a regular part of life…this has been a very fun thread…play well all….
August 29th, 2011 @ 9:56 pm
Hee-hee! You are such a maverick and I love it!
