happy new year!
I’ve been on a multi-species lovefest, which, combined with budding obsessions with new amazing projects has kept me away from the computer and has also caused me to be way late in starting THIS. But it’s not too late. Who’s doing it with me this year?

I’m sort of surprised you don’t get electronic bills and have them automatically deducted from your checking or credit card. Saves paper and work.
Credit card will send an itemized end of year accounting on request.

I started mine last night. I picked up my copy of TurboTax with a $10 off coupon at CostCo yesterday, loaded it and got started.
I’m still waiting for my W2 and a few forms, but I could still start putting in a lot of info. I’ll just go back and revise when the forms arrive.
I’ve been doing mine electronically since the old MacInTax days. Been filing electronically since they started that. It’s the only way to go. I have my refund send directly to the bank.

Mine is ready for the accountant, just waiting for the bank and pension receipts although I’ll most likely just figure out what they’ll be and tell him that I’ll deliver the copies when they come. I love to get this crap BEHIND me lol.

I’m with you, Shreve! So many people are trusting big companies, like banks, to be the watchdog. We need to be watching THEM! A yearly watch at the least (which is what this hands-on tax prep is) is so important. I have enough time to keep an ongoing watch, but for those who don’t, some kind of personal involvement is really necessary.
& why pay accountants when you can do it yourself?

You have an excellent bookkeeping method!

I just want to say you look to be very well organized down to the littlest detail. Whatever makes your toes tap. The important thing to me is if you’re happy with your method than that’s what really counts.

I have just one word for you: Quicken. Can’t live without it. Takes so much stress off of my financial challenges.
