The Road In White

As requested! It’s not exactly the same spot, but pretty darn close from going off memory.

A Thousand Thanks

Picking the care package recipient was not remotely scientific ~ I asked Mike to pick a number between 1 and 456. He said 221. Maggie, I’ll be emailing you for your mailing address!

When I wrote the contest post, I left the comment guidelines completely open, thinking ‘whatever words are left for me are what I need to hear.’ I was not expecting so much kindness. I needed to hear it. Thank you all.

New: Notepads!

notepads

Printing my calendars on a press this year was so interesting – I’m going to photograph the entire process next year and share it here.  Printing on a press is a lot like rolling out dough – it’s a process done by hand with the help of a tool (rolling pin / printing press).  The middle is uniform, but the edges are imperfect.  Just as the edges of rolled-out dough might be irregular – a bit thinner or thicker, a bit jagged – so are the first and last prints done on a press.  And so extras are always made so these imperfect prints can be culled.

I was at my printer’s one day, after I’d picked up the calendars, and saw this stack of random prints from my calendars, and they explained this process.  I looked through the stack of loose prints, and saw that some of them were absolutely perfect – they were just extras, with not enough partners to make a full calendar – and it felt a shame to have them thrown away.  So I pulled out all the beautiful prints and asked my printer to turn them into notepads.

I love these!  I love them even more than the calendars.  They’re great toss-around doodle pads, perfect for kids, and I’ll be keeping one by my bed for midnight thoughts.  Since “upcycling” was my goal and the cover of each pad is an unused calendar page, it does have a month calendar grid printed on the back.  But who cares about the back of the cover of a notepad, especially when the front of the cover is so beautiful!

Perfect stocking stuffers, just $5 each ~ find ’em in the Shop.
EDIT: And they’ve sold out! Wow, and thank you.
