This week…. this year……… who’s ready for a new one????
I posted this to instagram yesterday:

everyone is so mad at each other right now 💔 one thing i’ve learned over the last few years: the microcosm IS the macrocosm. stay focused on ✨your✨ behavior, on how kind you are to yourself and to strangers and to the planet, because it does make a difference. it does.

The clashing and meanness – from all sides – is making me so sad. Who benefits when the hoi polloi are divided and fighting amongst themselves? Why is this not obvious to everyone?

I do have something I believe everyone can agree on, something everyone will love: CHARLIE.

Failing that, CHARLIE FOR YOUR WALL!! (Not that wall. Never that wall.)

2017 calendars are finally finished and ready to brighten your days, your weeks, your year, your cubicle, your office, your home, and those of all your friends.

I have two calendars for you this year: the 2017 CHARLIE calendar, and the 2017 WITH LOVE FROM WYOMING calendar, which showcases some of my favorite photos of the Farmily and life in the wild west.

I hope you love them as much as I love you.

Well said, Shreve! If we don’t come together we can’t move forward. All this fighting is useless energy! As Michael Jackson sang “If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that Change!”

Love you too, Shreve, for the person you are and all that you offer us. Thanks for continuing to be a voice of reason in a world that is being very unreasonable.

    And the calendars are gorgeous!

I couldn’t agree more. We need to stop fighting and blaming and remember our common humanity to work together for the betterment of all. Be kind to yourself, be kind to others even if they are not being kind themselves. I know it’s hard when we are hurt and angry but truly I believe that it’s the only way forward. Thank you Shreve for always being a voice of love and reason.

Got my Charlie calendar ordered! I can’t wait! They’re both beautiful but I had to choose just one.

Love will always win. We have to keep believing that.

First I love the calendars! I appreciate the sentiment you expressed and believe it is true. I have lived in many different places and have always been able to find common ground. Still do. But. For me, not being a white christian person and with family members who are brown and gay it is not anger we are expressing but fear. Fear of being a target. Fear fear fear. The anger seems to be against us.

Would Jimmy Kimmel be his VP?

J ~ I wrote “everyone” and that was hyperbole. The fear you speak of is legit and heartbreaking and you are so right.

I like the idea of Charlie for President. Who would be his VP?

While election campaigning in Canada isn’t as nasty as it some times in the US, the back stabbing and name calling still happens.

Though I find dirty politics discusting, the thing that frustrates me most are people who constantly complain about how a government does things yet never goes to public meetings, never writes to their member of parliament/representative in Congress, and very seldom if ever, votes.

On a lighter note, I will be ordering both calendars.

I always did love that cowboy in the green boots!
I’ll probably be ordering 2 of each <3

I think no matter who would have been voted president…it would be scary.
Every time we vote for someone new or old…its scary; we never know truly how they will lead the nation, and "treat we the people". Violence gets us no where, except more hurt when we attack each other.
    Prayers for our country….

Shreve, you would have to run as the VP for Charlie, otherwise Charlie probably wouldn’t run! You would make the very Best Team and First Farmily! Wouldn’t that be awesome!

Well, I would certainly vote for Charlie if I were American. Or if he ran in Canada. I mean, We’ve got a couple of political parties that are going to be having leadership races soon. Send him up!

oh, thank you so much for including the pic of charlie curled up on his mattress! it says so much about the love and trust between you two. between the wild and the domestic. about how we enrich each other if we can trust and love.

I’ve admired you for a long time, Shreve, in part because you’ve always stated your truth eloquently and without apology. Your recent offer to help travelers on their way to Standing Rock was inspiring. However, this post feels to me like a bit of a cop-out. You don’t go into detail, but decrying the “meanness” coming “from all sides” reads to me as though you’re falsely equivocating the bigots who are right now out in full force gleefully committing hate crimes, and the people expressing rightful anger that our country has elected a hateful bigot to its highest office. I doubt that’s what you intended, but leaving it ambiguous invites that interpretation and somewhat alienates those of us who are actively fighting for love and justice. And this fight is important! For some of us, it’s the fight for our lives. And no amount of “good vibes” will solve racism and misogyny. Outcry is necessary and anger can be part of healing.

I love you Shreve, I’m just a little disappointed. You have great influence, please use it! <3

Of course there is anger which is stemming from the fear and sadness of what our country has become as evidenced by the fact that we have just elected someone as our president who won on a platform of hate, bigotry, sexism, racism, etc. etc. This shock and disbelief is being felt around the world, not just here in the US.
How can this country ever hope to heal from this when we have alienated not only our own citizens but people all around the world. We can only continue in our resolve to reject hate of our fellow man just based on the color of his skin or his religious beliefs and so many other things that are not just exactly like our own. We MUST embrace each other’s differences if we ever expect to be strong again.
As Katy said, we must continue to fight for love and justice…for EVERYONE!

Hahahahaha ~ I know of a really good place for the cabinet meetings where it can be held around a “Normal” campfire or a “Huge Bonfire” ~ whichever the case of the meeting shall call for….. lol

I agree with you, Katy and Chris! I am still shocked and crestfallen that we could have elected such a man, and his appointment of Steve Bannon as chief strategist only confirms our worst fears. To follow the election of our nation’s first black president with a president endorsed by the KKK and American Nazi party is beyond sad, and we can but hope that with work, dedication and prodigious fundraising for fair-minded candidates and anti-discrimination groups we can turn things around eventually.
